The
True Nature of Music
A Retreat for Musicians and Songwriters
January 2-January 9, 2010

Come to Costa
Rica and the True Nature Education Center for this
incredible Music Retreat. Take time and space to
nurture your creative capability as we bring in the
New Year cultivating a deeper understanding of the
power of ourselves through music. For some, making
music and songwriting is important, yet making time
for it is a challenge, and for others, music is what
we live for. Learn from each other and professionals
in the field as we utilize a blend of nature and its
sound scape, musical technique and skills, jam-time,
personal creative time, and profound collaborative
exercises. There will also be one on one time with
teachers to specifically work on your area of
interest/needs. This retreat guarantees that you will
receive a deeper understanding of your true nature
which will unleash musical potential that you didn't
know you had. It will also begin to build a
foundation of support for you to fulfill your musical
dreams.

Matthew
Schoening (www.SoloElectricCello.com)
Matthew is a teacher, performing artist, and a lover
of music. As one of many musical ventures, he
composes dynamic compositions for his electric cello
through a unique style of live looping and layering.
By recording himself live in front of audiences and
instantly layering his recordings on top of one
another, he creates a rich landscape of worldly
sounds, rhythms, melodies, and harmonies -- a
symphonys worth of sound from one man, and one
instrument, live. Matthew has mentored musicians
young and old, and inspired artists of many
disciplines who have called him
"soul-touching,"
"boundary-expanding," and
"healing." He shares his gifts to benefit
children's hospitals, human trafficking, cancer
foundations, and to heighten the experience of union
with spirit in yoga workshops. He has performed at
Seattle Symphony Hall, for Entertainment Tonight,
with The Dancing People Company, at Earthdance, at
Yoga Journal Magazine conferences nationwide, and
worked on projects with world-renowned musicians
including Ottmar Liebert, John Medeski, Chuck D, and
many others. Matthew believes that it is important
for each of us to find and fulfill our purpose; we
can all follow our hearts and pursue our dreams
through gifting our talents to others through art,
music, and collaboration.
